Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî (/èˈg̃ëri/ /rɘˈtɘnë/ [short; low] [fuel]) is a temperate Large Town located in the Lêtdêsara Zone of the Union of Engineers.

The name Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî is derived from the Iron Elvish language, as Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî was founded by Trtë Trêbega, who was culturaly Iron Elven.

Climate

Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî has a yearly average temperature of 24°C (75°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 26°C (78°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a pleasant 23°C (73°F). Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî receives an average of 204 cm/y (80 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the spring. Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî covers an area of nearly 7 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 6266 m (20557 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî was founded durring the late 14th century in summer of the year 1283, by Trtë Trêbega. The establishment of the new community went well, with no major obsticles durring construction.

Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî was built using the conventions of Iron Elven durring the late 14th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî is buildings have been located at convienant points along the rivers Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî was built upon. Navigating the town is therefore a little chalanging as the distance between buildings verris greatly and the spacious cobblestone streets flow where they are able to be made rather than folowing the most convienant paths. The town is the proud owner of a thick set of fortified walls fashioned from querried stone blocks. While not up to snuff for a fort or castle wall, the town's walls are naturaly much larger than those of forts or castles. Therefore, the construction such a wall is most expencive. Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî's buget focused wall would serve its community well in battle in spite of looking unimpressive compared to castles and fortresses. The top tier civilian fortifications has suffered a visible ammount of structural damage, leaving them effectivly useless. One can't help but wonder why the has not yet effected repairs.

Right off the bat Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî hits you in the face with its success. Everyone, even the peasants, are dressed in well made clothing. Every tool and implement you can see is finely made, and people will boast to you as obvious strangers of the wonders which can be found in their markets. More interestingly is a total lack of beggars, and plenty of new buildings are going up even as you speak. Somehow this town has come into quite a lot of wealth, and recently from the looks of things. Precisely how it has gained its wealth is a mystery. Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî is, in a word, disorder. People seem to be allowed to do as they please with little harmoney to anything. It feels less like a town, and more like a spot people just happened to place their homes. Yet there are small elements here and there which show the underlying structure of the community. It’s just so complex, organic, and flowing one can only understand what is a piece of the puzzle, but not what its neighbors are.

Civic Infrastructure

Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî possesses a city-wide Aethary Link which provides Aethary access anywhere within its metropolitan. This allows citizens who can afford the relevant devices access in their places of work, and rarely homes.

Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî's parks.

Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî.

Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî has a Department of Firefighters, which is responsible for organizing fire fighting efforts during a fire and enforcing local ordinances relating to fire safety.

Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî has a Hall of Slayers, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî's natural decorations nor waterways.

Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî has a Guild of Roadworkers, who are responsible for maintaining the roadways and public paths within town. They also have the duty of enforcing all civil laws relating to the roadways.

Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî's mayor's house was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is known for its buildings being predominantly formed through the combination of basic geometric shapes. However, it shown in the detailing given to the structures such as its characteristic tall columns, intricate detail, symmetry, harmony, and balance in their designs to an astonishing degree of precision. Decorative elements for the buildings tended to be built into the structure itself, making great use of fluting, frescoes, inlays, and embossing.

Due to the actions of local Kami, spring is short in Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî.

The Snake, Viper near Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî are known to be almost tame, such that they can be put to domestic use.

Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in autumn and involves creating small tokens to channel Wild Magic energies of tier 3 via throat singing.

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century, Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî was attacked by soldiers from another nation, waging a greater campaign. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî lost 211 people, 341 livestock, and 95 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 153, when members of Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî's militia enacted an operation to construct defenses in a particular fortification. The operation was complicated by the army's activities draw the wrath of formerly neutral parties. The conflict ended with pitched battle between both forces, which ended in defeat for Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Èg̈ëri-rêtênë Bî's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
